Well Safety Under Pressure

Intelligent Wellhead Systems (IWS) provides proprietary and unique surface control systems for various markets around the world, including unconventional shale, subsea intervention, critical well intervention and offshore operations.

In 2011, Brad Martin and Mitch Carlson, started IWS after learning firsthand of the stress and risks of maintaining active wells under pressure. Today, they protect their clients from the negative impacts of well-control incidents and increase operational efficiency through technology advancements that facilitate new standard operating procedures and data analytics.

IWS has developed a magnetic imaging collar that significantly improves safety during well maintenance and repair. The imaging collar is installed in the Blowout Preventor stack to allow operators to “see” tools in the hole during well intervention work and reduce the likelihood that an operator will shear off equipment while in the hole. It also reduces the likelihood that equipment will be pulled past the stuffing box thereby creating a blowout situation.
