Attracting Investors Using Virtual Reality
The Town of Okotoks is continually innovating to support economic vitality. The town has integrated virtual reality technology to help future business owners “see” how their investment would fit into the community.
The town worked with VRchitecht to create an augmented reality video of two parcels of land that are available for development. The conceptual animation takes the viewer through a virtual tour of how this land could be transformed into commercial space.
This is the first time a municipality has used augmented reality as a way to showcase developable land. A complete virtual reality experience has also been created where viewers will be able to walk through the development, choosing a variety of different options such as seasons, time of day, etc.
The town is currently working on a second augmented reality video to showcase the new Arts and Learning Campus that is under construction.
“We recognize the world has changed, and we need to be innovative to adapt. So, the town is continuing to move forward to encourage and support the development of new businesses in our community, especially those that embrace innovation and technology, and those that are prepared to move forward with us.”
